iPlayer Radio downloads pass One Million mark

bbc-iplayer-logo_900Radio fans have downloaded more than a million shows since the BBC’s iPlayer Radio app was updated to allow content to be stored on smartphones and tablets, ideal for those who want to listen while travelling.

The app is available for Apple’s iOS platform, Google’s Android and Amazon’s Kindle and allows fans to download shows over WiFi which can then be kept and listened to for up to 30 days.

Andrew Scott, General Manager Radio and Music, BBC Digital says, “We knew from the success of our Podcast service that there was a demand to download BBC radio and music content to listen to whenever they wanted too.  But hitting 1m downloads across the whole of BBC radio and music has far surpassed our expectations.  We’re looking forward to bringing audiences even more features like this over the coming months.”
