Sky’s NOW TV brings Hollywood’s biggest films to YouView

10th August 2012 - StreamedTV

Sky’s NOW TV service is now available on YouView, bringing premium movies to the nascent on-demand TV platform.

YouView combines broadcast channels with broadband delivered content from catch-up services such as the BBC’s iPlayer and 4oD.

ISPs TalkTalk and BT are also making content available to their broadband customers.

Launching on YouView today, NOW TV offers pay per view movies from the Sky Store and a £15 monthly Sky Movies Pass which offers access to the same movies broadcast on Sky’s movie channels. The service is currently offering users a months free trial.

Sky has already said sports and TV content will be available at a later date.

While other content providers are expected to join the platform shortly, the presence of Sky’s premium content could be a key driver in YouView’s success.

YouView’s CEO Richard Halton said he was “delighted that NOW TV is live on YouView.”

Halton added: “They are the first non-shareholder content partner to be featured and demonstrates our commitment to providing the very best content. We look forward to welcoming other content providers to the platform in the near future.”

Simon Creasey, Director of NOW TV, commented: “We know there’s growing demand from UK consumers to access high-quality pay TV and internet-connected devices provide an innovative new way to help satisfy that demand. We’re delighted that NOW TV is now available on YouView and to be providing current free-to-air homes a fresh new choice.”
