Sky’s NOW TV launches this week

16th July 2012 - StreamedTV

Sky has announced it’s NOW TV streaming service will launch this week on PC, Mac and selected Android smartphones and later this month on iPhone.

NOW TV is aimed at those who do not subscribe to pay-TV and will offer some of Sky’s most popular programming across a range of devices.

Initially only movie content will be available under the Sky Movies brand but other content, including live sports and shows from Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and Sky Living, will be available soon.

Customers will have access to a choice of 600 movies from major Hollywood studios and each week up to five new films will be added. Sky promises these films will be available “at least 12 months before they are available on other online subscription services.”

Movies will cost 99p for classic titles and £3.49 for the latest blockbusters and users can also subscribe to a Sky Movies Pass for £15 a month which gives unlimited access.

A 30-day trial free trial is currently available.

The service will also be expanded to Apple’s iPad, the Xbox, Sony’s Playstation 3 and Roku streaming player later this year.

NOW TV already been confirmed as a launch content partner for YouView when it goes live later this month.

NOW TV’s Simon Creasey said the service will “will bring more choice to UK consumers and an easy way to enjoy amazing movies, instantly.”

“As we move forward, NOW TV will get even bigger and better, with more devices and more platforms in the coming months. Customers can also look forward to the best live action from Sky Sports and great drama, comedy and entertainment from our Sky channels.”
