Jason Bateman is to star in, Executive Produce and direct a “dark” new drama series for Netflix.
Made by Media Rights Capital, the ten-part Ozark revolves around financial planner Marty (Bateman) and Wendy Bird (Laura Linney) and their family’s sudden relocation from the suburbs of Chicago to a summer resort community in Missouri.
Rather than the familiar skyscrapers and trading floors, Ozark explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.
The series is being produced by Media Rights Capital for the streaming service and will premiere worldwide in 2017.
