Netflix has launched a new mobile plan for Malaysia which allows standard definition (SD) streaming on one smartphone or tablet at a time for RM17/month.
The mobile plan sits alongside the existing Basic, Standard and Premium plans and offers add-free streaming.
As of 2019, 88% of Malaysians own smartphones. And online entertainment is important to them: According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) 2018 Internet Users Survey, 78% of Malaysia’s internet users spent time streaming and downloading entertainment. Netflix members in Malaysia already watch twice as much content on their phones as the average member. The Mobile plan is tailor-made to broaden access to Netflix in this truly mobile-first nation.
“Our members in Malaysia love to watch shows on their smartphones and tablets. With the first-ever Mobile plan in Southeast Asia, all of Netflix’s shows and movies will be even more accessible for Malaysians to stream and download,” said Ajay Arora, Director of Product Innovation at Netflix.
