Amazon has secured the UK rights to US medical drama, New Amsterdam for its Prime Video service.
Based on the best-selling book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital by Eric Manheimer and his fifteen years as Medical Director at the hospital, New Amsterdam stars Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist) as Dr. Max Goodwin and will be available to Prime members in the UK beginning 8th February 2019.
The series also stars Janet Montgomery (The Romanoffs) as Dr. Lauren Bloom, Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who) as Dr. Helen Sharpe, Jocko Sims (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) as Dr. Floyd Reynolds, Anupam Kher (Silver Linings Playbook) as Dr. Vijay Kapoor and Tyler Labine (StartUp) as Dr. Iggy Frome.
Inspired by the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care.
Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital — the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof — and return it to the glory that put it on the map.
New Amsterdam is produced by Universal Television in association with Pico Creek Productions and Mount Moriah. David Schulner will write and executive produce. Kate Dennis will direct and executive produce the pilot episode, Peter Horton will also executive produce and Dr. Eric Manheimer will produce.
